From Tree to Building
From Tree to Building
A log comes in as an irregular natural object. We prepare it, measure it, work with it digitally, machine the calculated connections, check the result and send a known component to the building site.
We are not trying to turn the tree into a standardized piece of timber. The manufacturing process starts with the shape of the log we actually have.
Technology Where It Helps
Technology Where It Helps
Scanners are very good at measuring complicated shapes. Computers are very good at geometry and calculation. Industrial robots are very good at repeating calculated movements accurately.
So that is where we use them.
The technology does not replace the timber. It lets us do difficult work with natural timber more accurately and efficiently.
When the building is standing, the scanner is gone. The software is gone. The robots are gone.
What remains is the log home.
